MEMBERSHIP

Currently, nine WFAE Affiliate organizations have been formed to represent the interests of individuals and carry out activities at a local or regional level. Together as the WFAE, these regional organizations collaborate in creating a global vision for acoustic ecology.

WFAE affiliate organizations serve Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico Japan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States. Your annual membership in one of the WFAE Affiliated Organizations provides you with the benefits offered by a regional association and those of the international WFAE. An individual WFAE membership is also available when no regional affiliate organization is available to meet your needs.

NOTE: A WFAE membership expires at the end of the calendar year and must be renewed each January. Each Affiliate has its own membership application process and fees.

Particulars:

  • Members receive the annual publication Soundscape: The Journal of Acoustic Ecology.
  • Members are eligible to serve as elected officers on Affiliate and WFAE Boards
  • Members may receive special discounts for conferences, workshops, and other events as promoted by an Affiliate or the WFAE.

What is an Affiliated Individual Membership?

A WFAE Individual Affiliate membership is available when no regional organization is available. An Individual Affiliate receives WFAE discounts and the annual Soundscape: The Journal of Acoustic Ecology. Individuals may pay their membership fees directly to the WFAE from wherever they live. This is particularly for those who have no convenient Affiliate Organization, who relocate frequently, or for any other reason. However, we recommend that when possible, the appropriate Affiliate Organization be joined.

Fee: Regular: US $35 / Students: US $20 (with copy of current student ID)
Join: Complete a WFAE Membership Form and mail it with fee in US cheques, international money orders, or travelers cheques made out to the WFAE. Do not send drafts, as bank charges are very high!
